The Long Way Round

a slow bicycle diary — one saddlebag, no hurry

I like the roads that go around the mountain instead of over it. They take longer and I have more time than sense, so it works out.

This summer, so far

Coast, three days. Wind against me the whole way out, behind me the whole way back. The universe evening its books.
The valley climb. Granny gear and a lot of apologising to the bike. Coffee at the top made it a lie worth telling again.
Flat and endless. Nothing to report, which is the entire appeal. Fields, a heron, a very rude dog.

Gear notes live in a different notebook. This one is only for where the road went and whether I would ride it again. (Mostly: yes.)
